I am at the IRC (Indie Romance Convention) in Lebanon, TN. Sitting here with me is Author D.F. Jones.
What genre do you write?
Romance, PNR, Time Travel Romance, my genre’s overlap.
Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and do you read the same genre as you write?I’m a native to Rockvale, TN. I went to school in Murfreesboro, TN and graduated from MTSU. I’ve owned Jones Media for eighteen years and published my first novel in July 2015 which turned into a three book series, Ditch Lane Diaries. I write what I love to read.
What inspired you to write in this particular genre?
2014 Comic Con: I was watching Diana Gabaldon talk about Outlander. No outline. She just started with one chapter at a time. I had been trying to write on and off for several years, and something snapped. I downsized my ad agency and started writing. I love to write, and I’m a storyteller.
Where are you from?
Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
Baldric the Warrior Angel. I want to clone him.
Do you have a unique formula for creating characters’ names?
My family immigrated from Scotland after the English crushed the clans. The Burns Chronicles is an enormous wealth of characters and tales.
Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
My villains. My editor gets mad because I end up making them likeable and I have to go back and chop, chop. Writing in Lucifer’s POV was daunting, to say the least.
What is your motto?
May love light the way.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate and peanut butter, separate or together, it doesn’t matter.
If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
God. Because after writing The Creator into my novels, I would want to know if he like how I portrayed him and if he laughed.
Tell us your latest news?
I just wrapped the last book in the Ditch Lane Diaries, Sandy’s Story. I just started a blog. I have two time travel projects next year. Spinning Time, I began writing it in spring of 2015 under the name Burkett Falls. My writing has improved considerably. Estimating a late spring release of 2017. I love anything about time travel, and this book is screaming to get out of me. Then, Jonathan’s Curse, the prequel to my short, Antique Mirror. Estimating that release by the end of September 2017, If the Lord’s willing and the creek don’t rise, I would like to do a spin off series from the Ditch Lane Diaries, titled, The Wards of Campbell Ridge with the next generation and in the present day in 2018.
Thank you DF Jones for taking the time to answers these questions.

About the Author:
I write stories based on what I love to read. Each book in the Ditch Lane Diaries could fall into separate genres. Ruby’s Choice is a coming of age story with a splash of paranormal. Ruby has prophetic dreams. Anna’s Way has elements of paranormal romance (angels) with science fiction, fantasy. Anna is a healer. Sandy’s Story, coming soon, is mystery, suspense, thriller with paranormal romance (angels and demons). Sandy is clairvoyant.
The Ditch Lane Diaries has elements of science fiction fantasy with metaphysical and visionary elements as well as contemporary romance elements. my storyline regarding angels and Lucifer is original. I chose paranormal romance angels (angels and demons) because that is the closest genre with angels.
Fun Facts: Set in the late’70’s through the 1980’s, each chapter in the Ditch Lane Diaries is a song title reflective of the era. You’ll catch yourself singing the song while reading.
Ruby’s Choice, Anna’s Way and Sandy’s Story hit in the Top 100 Paranormal Romance Angels, Angels and Demons genre during release week.
Antique Mirror is a short story with time travel and paranormal romance elements. It hit #3 Romance and #6 Time Travel in January.
Works in progress: Jonathan’s Curse, prequel to Antique Mirror is coming in 2017. I expect to release a new Time Travel book, Spinning Time in 2017. Please register for my updates at DFJonesAuthor.com
