The demon population is growing out of control and vampires are mankind’s best hope for survival.

Divine Syndicate’s top field agent, Anna, hits the streets with her partner to locate the master demon responsible for the increase in possessed humans. But finding the person won’t be easy. The city is in a state of disarray with crime, poverty, and drug use at an all-time high. While Anna and her partner search for the master, they encounter more trouble than expected. As defenders of the human race, vampires want to save lives and exorcise the demons to send them back to Hell for good. Anna fears the worst is yet to come when demons aim to destroy the best protectors for all species. She’ll stop at nothing to prevent evil from ruling on Earth.

Excerpt:

Glenn parallel parked two blocks from the club. “What’s your plan?”

“I’m going to go in and find a spot at the bar. I want you to wait a minimum of five minutes before you walk in. Pretend you don’t know me. I’ll get a couple of drinks, show the picture, ask if anyone knew Jamal, and see what happens. And don’t worry, if they ask my relationship to Tim, I’ll say he was my brother and I took the photo while he was sleeping.”

“So you’re not going to create a scene or start a fight?”

“I will do my best to keep the situation calm. But if someone is going to try to intimidate or touch me, I’m going to defend myself.”

He grinned. “Do you want me as backup?”

“Yes. Right now I don’t know who is innocent and who isn’t. I need another set of eyes scanning people. But if I leave, don’t follow right away. Someone might be watching and I don’t want us to be seen together.”

“Are you carrying?”

“Have you ever known me not to?”

“No.” He smirked. “I’ll wait here for a while.”

Description:

While the Divine Syndicate is working to prevent an outbreak of demons, vampires are disappearing and turning up as corpses.

The Union of Justice is known for tracking and serving justice on vampires. With the increase in departed vamps spiraling out of control, the UoJ’s top field agent, Zale, and his partner must switch from their normal job to investigate the remains of destroyed vampires. Identifying those responsible is proving to be a big challenge. Zale needs the assistance of the vamp community, only they have their own idea of ending the bloodshed. They want to kill demons. But murdering humans, possessed or not, is against the law. Complicating matters, neither vampires nor the UoJ trust each other. Mankind’s future is dependent upon vampires and vice versa, but both are at stake as the demon population grows. Zale will do anything to save lives and end the madness, even if it means working with the one species he’s chased his entire career.

Excerpt:

“There are always casualties in war,” Gordon said. “No one wants to kill an innocent, including vampires. I’m sure they have plenty of guilt for their actions weighing on their consciences.”

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, I’m certain they don’t want to take life from anyone. You should ask one sometime if you don’t believe me.”

“I respect your opinion. You’ve seen and lived through more than I have. But it’s difficult to find anything good about them when I’m constantly hunting down those who have killed humans.”

“Trust my words, the majority of vampires are moral and they are here to defend us from evil. If demons wipe them off the face of the Earth, we will be doomed. Demons will come for us and the rest of the non-human population. Humanity will have lost.”

A world filled with evil, hate, and murder was not one Zale cared to live in. He’d seen enough death and chaos from the last outbreak and never wanted to see another.

“We can’t let that happen.” Zale gave a single shake of his head. “I won’t let that happen.”

Visions plague Peter with warnings that something wants him for a sinister cause. It desires the one thing that Peter refuses to give, his blood.

Peter carries within him the one gift or curse that could unlock a secret to destroy the human race. On the run with Angel, a scruffy kid, Peter starts to unravel the mystery. It is the one treasure the heavens sought to hide from the world.

Purgatory Reign is Book 1 in the series including Deviant Storm, Fierce Tides and Kindle World novella Colliding Souls from Runes World.

Excerpt Purgatory Reign:

Peter took a moment to catch his breath. “I left. I left the grounds. But something’s bad has happened. Sh-she…Hanna died!” He coughed and his eyes watered. “Because of me! My fault. It was my fault. You gotta help her! I always screw up. Always. Please…”

Pastor Finn put his hands on Peter’s shoulders and shook him. “Why’d you leave? I told you never to leave here. You’ll put us all in danger. Yourself in danger. I didn’t save your butt for you to screw this up, boy.” He yanked Peter by the shirt and down the stairs. Then dragged him, practically running, all the way to the cellar stairs where he pointed at the small door where Peter had escaped. “Sixteen years old and you think you are man enough to make it out there?” he grumbled. “This is where you got out?” He sighed. “You don’t understand.”

“It’s my fault! Did you hear me? I killed someone! You gotta help her.” Peter jerked out of his grasp and grabbed Pastor Finn’s shirt, facing off with him. For once in a long while, he stared down the man eye to eye. He straightened up to his full height. The older man’s gray crew cut and piercing blue eyes were filled with fear. Peter’s hand loosened in shock that it was the first time he remembered that Pastor Finn looked afraid.

“I can’t help the dead.” He pushed Peter’s hands away from him. “But I have to help you. Come with me.” Peter watched him, confused. His teeth clenched at Pastor Finn’s betrayal. “I thought you were different. I have to go back. Bury her, like she deserves.” Peter stumbled backwards.

Description:

Josephine Herveaux is haunted with guilt over the death of her cousin. The traumatic event from her youth left an empty void she has tried to run from for the past twenty years.

Derek Owens has fought to come to terms with the love triangle from his youth. An OCD Dom, the only place he feels in control is in the safe room he has constructed to deal with his turbulent emotions. The slim thread is shattered when Josephine returns to town.

The past brings Josephine and Derek together once again, but the ghost of Josephine’s cousin refuses to remain quiet. Can Josephine and Derek come to terms with her cousin’s death, or will the ghostly voice in her head drive her to insanity?

A compelling story that will leave you craving more answers….

Excerpt:

Josephine stood caught in one of those moments—the ones that sent her heart running a marathon and her sanity flying out the window. Why else would she have been driven to her knees with fright not from nearly being crushed to death by a two ton truck, but by the man jumping out of its cab? Derek Owens. Oh my.

Worse, she found herself staring back at him just as hard as he seemed to stare at her. Her gaze got lost in the dark amber pools. Golden sparks flared near the irises. Sweet Jesus, not even five minutes back in town. Technically, not even in town yet, and she’d managed to make him mad. Furious, even. Her teeth sank down on her lower lip. Guess I pushed his buttons.

“Do you have a death a wish?” he roared.

His voice, deep and rich, resonated in parts of her that had been left dormant for far too long, jostling her system in an unexpected way. Goosebumps formed under her skin. Bubbles of lava danced on her spine. The contrast between the creeping cold and invading heat felt disconcerting.

“C’mon Jo, don’t you remember what I always told you about this damn curve? You can’t just stop in the middle of it like that. Christ, I could have killed you!”

“You’re such a pompous ass idiot sometimes! Of course I know the damn road. You know what, Derek, you’re absolutely right. I planned for this, for my car to break down at the worst possible spot in the blind curve. Oh, I also planned for your truck to come barreling down and come crashing into me. That’s right, I planned it all. As my welcome back to town party—Right!”Jo rolled her eyes skyward and huffed aloud to let out the steam of frustration this man always seemed to evoke inside of her.

Some things never changed.

* * * *

Derek’s fingers twitched. He wanted to march up to her, take her over his knee and teach her the lesson she richly deserved. No female challenged him. He ruled. No one talked back to him. How dare she?

Pure lust gnawed his insides raw. He admired her strength, her spirit. It drove him wild the way she ran her mouth. As much as he wanted to spank her for it, it stirred up old tendrils of… could that be… friendship?

“Damn Jo, I am sorry. Of course you didn’t mean for your car to break down here of all places. It’s just…” his voice trailed off.

“It’s just you acted like a big jerk and put your foot in your mouth like you always do.” She put her fist on her curvy waist and cocked her eyebrow up at him, challenging him.

Every hair on his body stood on edge. His jaw locked. Damn, she knew how to push his buttons. And here he’d done for her something he never did—apologize. He’d actually said those words to her, I am sorry, and she’d called him a jerk. The bitter taste in his mouth reminded him why he never did this.

The need to dominate grew inside. This, however, was definitely not the right time or place. The only way he could gain control would be by towing her car to her summer house and getting her out of the road and out of his way—at least for tonight.

“Just get in the truck, Jo! I’ll get the damn cables and tow you up the rest of the way,” he snapped.

A Winter Solstice Faith’s Restored.

By Roxanna Cross

Bryn tugs on the ash log and brings it in the house. December 21st, already… and she’s just now bringing in the Yule log. Her mother would have been ashamed. May the great Mother take care of her Spirit. She thinks as she places the log with the care it deserves in the fire pit next to the piece left behind from last year’s log. With hasty fingers, she decorates the beautiful wood with her mother’s favorite evergreens, douses it with cider and dusts it with flour as tradition calls. It’s ready. It’s time. So why can’t she strike the match and set it ablaze? And when did the tears start she wonders?

“Here, let me.”

“Oh Shit. Finn, where did you come from?” She asks with her hand clutching her chest as if it would stop her galloping heart. “The front door,” he ignores her melodrama and pries the match out of her tight fist. He strikes its head against the rough edge of the brick fireplace. The acrid smell of its ignition, hits their nostrils. Finn bends down and sets the log ablaze. “There,” he says, “all set.”

The tears quietly coursing down Bryn’s cheeks keeps pouring out of her as the flame brighten. This time Finn doesn’t ignore her dramatics and pulls her to him. “It had to be lit, Bryn. That’s why I took charge like that. Otherwise, you would’ve sat here all night… staring at a cold fireplace and a colder Yule log.”

“I know.” She hiccups. “It’s just Mom always…” her throat constricts in pain. She knew the first Yule without her would be difficult. But, upholding the traditions is cruel somehow. Especially, since she’s not feeling the Winter Solstice spirit in her heart. “Do you want to talk about it?” Finn asks gently. “No.” A shiver runs down her spine and not solely at the thought of reminiscing. “Ok then, tell me what I can do to make you feel better, Bryn?” His eyes swim with sincerity. “Make me forget, please Finn.”

His thumb gently scoops away the tears. He presses his forehead to hers. His hot breath mixes in with hers. She knows what Finn is doing and it won’t work. She won’t back down from this. She won’t say no. Or stop. She’s given him his green light. Bryn patiently waits for him to take it; time to create new traditions.

When he sees this is for real his mouth crashes down on hers and devours. She opens for him like a flower welcoming the light once more. His tongue is hungry. No time for sweet caress, it rolls with savage intent. Taking all she has to offer. His teeth nip and bite. His hands make quick work of her clothes, his clothes. They are everywhere on her body at once, or so it seems. His long fingers leave a trail of liquid fire everywhere they touch her skin. Her mind is in complete bliss—just what she ordered.

A small whimper bubbles out of her when he wrenches his lips away from hers. “I’ve got you,” he purrs and moves his searing lips down her body to lick and nip her pussy. In one violent torrent she comes on his tongue. “That’s my girl.” He circles her clit gently and glides his tongue back up her body flicking it across her nipples before reclaiming her mouth in another bruising kiss. She loves tasting herself there. Loves it so much she can feel that ball of white fire building again in the pit of her belly. Finn’s large cock head teasing her slit. Up and down. Slow and steady. Not penetrating her. It drives her insane. “Say you’re my girl.” Finn commands. Is this what he needs to take me? “I am yours, Finn.”

Magic words spoken, next to her brightly burning Yule log, he takes her hard and fast and she continues to ride the bliss he offers. Her faith in Winter Solstice forever restored.

Candlelight

Mesmerized

Eyes caught

By the dancing flame

Of the giant sized candle

Burning this Yule night

Its orange flame like a beacon

Its bright blue pillar, a spear of hope

And the evergreens all around, sign of new beginnings

Blessed it be to all under the Yule candle’s light

Review:

Wow, this has been a ride.  I am glad to have gotten my hands on all of the books at once since I didn’t want to stop reading. Not your typical story idea, and not your typical easy answers.  You even end up with the animals talking in your own head by the end of the day.  There’s romance, mystery, and drama. The ending is a blast. There’s big secrets out in the open at last.

Description:

“Two months ago my world collapsed and the beast reigned. Seven weeks ago the SRD captured me. Nine days ago, they injected me with something vile. Today, I break free. And tomorrow? I’ll make them pay.”

Badass Shifter Andy McNeilly wakes up from a horrible nightmare, only to discover it wasn’t a dream, and she’s no longer quite so badass. Chemically curbed, Andy has lost touch with her feras and beast when she needs them most. Can she regain control of her supernatural abilities in time to reap retribution from her enemies, or will she fall as fodder in a power play for control of Vancouver’s seedy underworld?

Review:

What a gripping story.  Andy is quite the character.  She has background of dealing with Dylan who’s insidious treatment has mentally taken a toll on her.  Even with a hot male in her sights, she doesn’t give in.  She has too much on her plate right now trying to discover why her last job went so terribly wrong.  The story moves quickly and is engrossing.  The shifter style world is a bit different than most stories.  Here there is a physical animal that hangs out with you instead of only being in the characters head.  With the exception of our main character since she is a bit different than most.  I enjoy the sassy responses Andy has both out loud, and in her head.  Gives you a good chuckle.

Description:

Government assassin Andrea McNeilly’s job normally requires keeping her mouth shut and not asking questions. Not anymore. Despite her sass and unique skills as a Shifter, she’s out of luck.

After a botched hit on a Vampire’s human servant, Andy’s on the run. Right in her way is an over-sized Werewolf Alpha with the attitude of a brute and allure of a Norse god. An assassin requires a heart of stone, but the passion provoked by Wick puts a chink in Andy’s emotional armor.

Andy’s desire to trust Wick is blocked by her painful past and Wick’s allegiance to the very Vampire who now owns her future. Can Andy reconcile her yearnings for Wick and discover the truth behind the kill order? Or has destiny already selected her for a horrific fate?

Review:

Here in part two there is a brief touching on happenings from book one.  Not enough to drag on but just enough to refresh your memory.  Things get a bit deeper and gloomy for a moment.  Andy has a difficult triangle happening between Wick and Tristan.  It doesn’t help that her wolf and cat don’t see the same guy being her mate.  Some of the things Andy deals with are simple to handle and others are super difficult.  Following her as she deals with all of this keeps you reading.  Andy still hasn’t lost her smart aleck personality.  Love it.
Description:

Sometimes the greatest danger comes from within…

When Master Vampire Lucien Delgatto threatens her potential mate Wick’s life, Shape Shifter Andrea “Andy” McNeilly will employ a den of witches, a bedazzled thong, and her ability to shift into multiple animals to meet his demands. She plans to keep Wick safe—even if she’s not speaking to him. Lucien’s unwelcomed control over Wick’s life has thrown Andy into a whirlwind of emotions. Though Wick vows to do whatever it takes to earn Andy’s forgiveness and win back her trust, it may be too late.

This recent conflict awakens something within Andy, an animal she’s never learned to control. For hidden beneath all her forms is a beast whose anger and brutality rivals none. And she’s pissed.

Review:
Oh Andy.  What a sad ending to this section of the series.  The trouble with caring about others means that decisions become harder and the options become slimmer.  Andy thinks she is alone, yet she has slowly been making allies and friends.  The way this book is written keeps pace with the first two.  The speed of the story is consistent and the story line still keeps you hooked.  I’m off to the next book.
Description:

As an ambassador with the Supernatural Regulatory Division, Andy McNeilly is responsible for acting as the Liaison for the Vancouver Vampire horde. The problem? She detests the Vampire Master, and the SRD can’t discover the beast she keeps locked inside.

After a menacing Demon throws an important Vampire event into chaos, Andy finds herself sniffing out crime scenes to identify and locate the mystery fiend from the nether realm. What she learns chills her bones.

Threatened by the Master Vampire to deal with the Demon, Andy’s complicated personal life doesn’t make things easier. She’s willing to risk her life and pride to keep loved ones safe. But how can she make a choice that will break one heart…and complete another?

“They’re sentence enhancers, not swear words.”  Andy McMeilly  Here in book four Andy tries to move on with her life and choices.  She is investigating some nasty murders, and discovers someone from her past is ready to use her as a play toy again.  I am enjoying the banter of the different animals in her head.  This whole series so far is quite descriptive when it comes to scents for emotions.
Description:

Badass Shifter Andy McNeilly is running on empty. The death of a prominent supernatural being has her reeling. The invention of a new street drug has the police knocking on her door for assistance. And a friend needs her unique skills to help investigate a messy murder.

Review:

Annabel is one of those strong yet still cares about others heroines.  She is easy to like and cheer on.  This story is written with very clear lines of good and evil personalities.  Some of the science fiction part of this story is vague.  You hear about the “core” yet I’m not sure how or why it works like it does.  Annabel gets experimented on where the results make her special.  The way she handles this with the Varkins (the evil side) and the Anlights (the good side) shows you about her character.  There is a dark side here with Annabel getting tormented.  Might be a bit much for some readers who don’t want to read about someone being hurt.  There’s also a romance story hidden in here too.

Description:

A new time. A new planet. A new world. New technologies. Two new humanoid species. A new war.

The two species separate, but in the removal, some of the best are left behind among the worst. Captured and held as slaves, they are treated cruelly for entertainment. Torture. Pain.

Annabel, endures a year of such cruelty, kept alive only by way of syringes which, while healing, cause a greater agony. She discovers a secret held by their leader, and decides to help her own kind by escaping–even if it means a final death, preferable to the life she has endured.

Her escape succeeds, and she joins her own kind at the other end of the planet. Among her new friends she meets many who help her adjust to their happier life. Will Annabel find romance? Or will another war break her down?

Excerpt:

Annabel stopped at the end of the pier, and covered her face with her hands as tears rolled down her cheeks. That emotional moment had triggered memories from the Old Land and the Varkins. She remembered Kate, and how she had promised her freedom but was not able to keep that promise. She remembered her family she had lost, and her boyfriend who’d betrayed her. She wished the Big Change had never happened and she was still a human, with her family and friends. She thought she missed the Old Land, even the Varkins. She would never have thought she would think again about that dark place. Annabel stood at the pier and cried as the wind was blowing her tears away. She heard footsteps approaching her from behind.

“Excuse me?” One of the fishermen was talking to her, a crying stranger. “Something happened? Do you need help?”

“No…Nothing,” Annabel replied and turned away.

“I know we don’t know each other,” he continued, “but I have never seen an Anlight with black wings crying on the pier, so I wanted to make sure you were okay.”

Annabel couldn’t say anything to him as she knew she was not okay.

“My name’s Robin,” he introduced himself. “I come here sometimes when I feel sad too. I very well know this…”

“Why would you feel sad?” Annabel whispered, not looking at him. “Isn’t this a paradise here?”

“It is what you make it to be,” he replied. “But I have my sad days too…I lost my son before we Anlights came to the New Land and I didn’t know what happened to him. He just disappeared right before we had to leave the Old Land.”

Annabel opened her eyes and her heart jumped as she turned to look at the Anlight who was talking to her. He was tall, wearing dark pants and a brown shirt, holding his fishing pole in his right hand. Annabel looked at him for a moment and her eyes widened when the moon appeared from behind scudding clouds and she saw his face in its light. He looked so familiar she was…she knew the reason for his son’s disappearance. She turned away from him hiding her emotions.

“What was his name?” she asked quietly, predicting the answer.

“Markus!” he said. “I called him Mark. He looked a lot like me.”

Annabel closed her eyes and took a deep breath, knowing exactly what had happened to him. She bit her bottom lip, trying to hold tears from washing out of her eyes.

“He was about your age…” the fisherman continued, happily talking about his son, “Very brave young Anlight. Sometimes even too brave for his own good.”

Annabel stood quietly, trying to calm down. She took another deep breath. She knew his son was that brave Anlight who had been doing most of the talking when they were first captured by Varkins.

“I know what happened to him,” she whispered, wondering if she should even tell him the truth. Her voice began to shake.

“Oh, you do?” The fisherman sounded curious—after all, how she could possibly know?

“I was there too…I was with him…and others…” Annabel spoke while catching her breath, trying her best to talk normally without giving in to her emotions. “Nobody lived…” she finished as more tears quietly ran down her face.

“Nobody?” he questioned, needing to be sure.

“Only me…” She finally could not take it anymore and burst into tears, sniffing and catching her breath.

The fisherman sighed and put his head down, in sadness for his son—even though he had already accepted his disappearance and possible death. He came close to Annabel.

“I knew one day I would know the truth.” He spoke calmly, and with sorrow. “Thank you for coming here tonight.”

“I am sorry about your loss,” Annabel sobbed harder with every word said. “He and others were in a lot of pain…and those who died…were the lucky ones. They are in peace now and will not feel any pain again.”

The fisherman took a step closer and put his hand on her shoulder. He smiled slightly.

“Sometimes it’s hard to accept what happens to us. Sometimes the reality seems too much for us to take. But we would not appreciate the good if we did not know the bad. We are writers of our own lives, and we decide when to close a chapter, and when to start the new one.”

Annabel wiped cold tears from her cheeks as she looked at him.

“Cheer up,” he continued. “You’re the lucky one! You can continue writing your life.” He paused for a moment. “And I need to get back to my wife…fish for dinner!” He laughed, picking up a small bucket full of fresh catch. He walked slowly back along the empty pier, disappearing in the darkness.

Annabel stood on the pier for a while longer, thinking about what he had said. She calmed down, as the wind picked up and she began to get cold. She returned to the car and drove back to her house. When she pulled up, nobody seemed to be there. She looked around as she walked to the porch door, hoping nobody was waiting for her. Annabel entered her house and locked the door behind her. She was just going to call her cousin about her visit when, again, someone knocked on the porch door. Annabel recalled what had happened before, and was not in the mood to continue talking about her own or Dexter’s relations. She crossed to the door and moved the blinds to see who was knocking. However, as soon as she saw it was Dexter outside, she slid the door open.

Originally from the Ukraine, I am still considered a new face to America. Speaking three languages including English, that became just as natural to me as my native Russian.

I grew up in a town on the south of Ukraine doing the same things that other kids my age did. Dreaming, hoping and wishing. Growing up, I spoke absolutely no English and never even saw myself somewhere abroad. Nevertheless writing a novel in another language!

I went to the local school that brought mostly negative experience in my life. But it shaped me throughout the years. My college life was much better. I was known to study well and to go out partying as much as it was possible.

In my first year of college I began to work in the marriage agency and met my future husband. We dated and traveled to most of the Europe along with Egypt.

When I finally got my fiancée visa, we both moved to the states, where soon after, got married. In the first few years I did some modeling and acting. Photo-shoots, run-way and photo in the magazine fulfilled my childhood’s dream.

A few years later I became a mother of a wonderful and most handsome little boy. Along with learning and experiencing motherhood, I began to make hand-made jewelry and organic soaps. This hobby turned into my small business and became bigger than I thought it would.

In the last year I discovered: an author lives inside me. Never did I think that I would write an English book and that I would love doing it. But I did! And I loved it!

Excerpt:

Fay shook her head. “I said, Breaker not Drakker. This beast was on top of me the whole night.”

Drakker smirked then muttered behind his tin cup of coffee, “Can’t say I blame him.”

Arlo must have noticed her rubbing at her lower back because he started messaging her shoulders. “I forgot your backrub last night.”

“Ooh,” she cooed in pure pleasure at the soothing of her tender muscles. “Now that feels awesome.” Moochy was faithful. She had to give him that, but her back was killing her where he’d leaned his twenty plus pounds against her the whole night. “Do you know this animal had the nerve to push me out from under my blanket with its cold nose?”

Drakker snorted, pulling up the collar of his duster. “You mean just like you had the nerve to set me out from my own warm bedroll last night?”

Arlo broke into a hardy laugh. “She did, didn’t she?”

“I offered you a blanket.” Fay gave him her most innocent, wide-eyed stare. “Least I didn’t come over and take your coat.” She smirked. “After I managed to get my covers back from this guy…” She thumbed an accusing finger at Moochy. “Why, he had the audacity to paw at my blanket until I allowed him to get under the covers with me.”

A seductive grin spread across Drakker’s face. “Hmm.”

His gaze captured hers, holding her attention hostage as his soft-spoken words caused her body to respond with a lusty heat.

“So, all I had to do to get in last night was to paw at you?”

Arlo’s mouth dropped wide at Drakker’s innuendo. His glance crisscrossed from her to Drakker then back to her. Arlo regained his composure faster than she did and politely changed the subject.

Review:

Would like to say that this is not an extremely long book however this book is really great. The author packed a lot in this book but I didn’t feel like it was rushed.  There was two love story’s in this book and it seems like the older love story really helped out Lucas and Arabella story I don’t think it would probably not have turned out like it did. I hope there will be more in this series. I didn’t want to put this book down.

Description:

Medium and paranormal investigator Arabella Pierce is sent with her crew to Kingston Cottage, a haunted Maine seafarer’s cottage on an isolated island. For this investigation, her boss has stuck them with skeptical reporter Lucas Brown. Though he’s hot as they come, Arabella can’t trust a man whose sole job is to discredit her and the work she does. Not after what happened with the last few skeptics…

All Lucas may want is the truth, but that doesn’t change her feelings towards him. And when the ghosts appear, she and Lucas must work together—in tight quarters—to convince the resident ghosts to move on before a storm strands the entire crew on the island. Can Arabella put aside her prejudices long enough to see what the ghosts are trying to tell her? And if she does, will she and Lucas have a shot at a lifetime?

Ghost of Kingston Cottage Banner 851 x 315

Excerpt:

“And what investigation are we doing? You didn’t say.”

“Kingston Cottage.”

Arabella stared at him, shocked. “Are you serious?”

He nodded. “The owners contacted me last week, and informed me they need to sell the house as soon as possible. They want to put it on the market this month, due to personal reasons. In order to do that, they need to know what’s inside … and how to get rid of it.”

“No one has ever been allowed to investigate it…” she trailed off in awe.

Folger smiled. “Until now.”

She couldn’t help but return his smile. The feeling of a fresh, no-one-else-has-done-it kind of hunt was too much of a thrill to pass up. Historic Kingston Cottage was located on a small island, all by itself, and had been rumored to be haunted since before Arabella was born. She had seen pictures and taken boat rides past the island, but she’d never set foot on the private property.

“When do we have to be at the docks?” she inquired as she stood, grabbing her coat off the back of the chair.

“Seven o’clock tomorrow morning. Don’t be late. Dustin is taking you over. But, Arabella—” She looked at him, knowing that tone. “It’s just going to be you, the reporter, Nick, and Lena. I need the rest of the crew on a different hunt.”

She paused at the door. Nick was one of their tech guys, and Lena was a lead investigator, like Arabella. Five more investigators rounded off the team. But the more she thought about Folger’s decision to use a small crew, the more it made sense, especially within the limited space of the cottage. “Nick and Lena,” she began, “do they know about the … ‘reporter’?”

Folger rolled his eyes, clearly hearing the quotation marks in her tone.

“Yes. I asked them not to speak of it until I talked to you myself. I think that was best, don’t you?”

Arabella chose to ignore the rolling eyes. “And the reporter?”

“He’ll be there at seven sharp as well. His name’s Lucas Brown, and he’s a serious reporter.”

She nodded slowly, not really believing him. “I’ll check in when we get there.”

“Please do, and be sure to pack extra clothes. You know how storms brew up suddenly here. I don’t want you all stranded without necessities. The owners left you some food. Expect to be on the island at least three days, maybe four. Oh, and there’s also a generator in the basement if you lose power.”

“Good to know, and it was nice of them to leave some food.”

“Yes. They’re good people.”

She found it a bit strange that the crew wasn’t going to meet the owners before the investigation, and stranger still that she had never met them. Noble was a small town along the central Maine coast—it was pretty rare not to put a name to a face.

“Oh, and Arabella,” Folger called as she left his office. “Try not to push him into the bay.”

Review:

This is a fun story involving ghosts, voodoo, siblings and revenge. The main character is a quirky twin who seems to have all the paranormal sense of the two twins. This is bk 2 so I assume from certain remarks and memories that in the first book there was a kidnapping. I liked the quirky Rachel, She takes things head on most of the time. She seems to have a blind spot, however when it comes to what is happening to her. The story was interesting and had some funny moments. IF you want something light and fun to read I can recommend this book.
