Review:

This is the first book I have read by Deborah Camp. Several times will reading this book I felt lost and if I had read the first three books that might not have happened. I did find this book well written and the characters believable and relatable. I look forward to reading more from this author. I recommand this book but advise reading the first three book before you do.

Description:

Psychic detectives Levi Wolfe and Trudy Tucker comb the streets of New Orleans in search of a serial killer who has claimed 19 lives and counting.

The suspect was in an accident almost two years ago that left him paralyzed in a wheel chair, but the murders continue. Is he faking it or has he enlisted a protégé to continue his reign of terror?

As Levi and Trudy draw closer to the truth, Trudy discovers new and unsettling psychic abilities in herself.

Excerpt:

“So, tell me about your experience,” Trudy said, sitting next to Levi.

“It was strange. Very strange. I was contacted – during a business meeting, mind you – by the dead son of the new contractor I was speaking with in my office. This kid – a salvage yard murder victim – popped into my head and started yelling at me. I tried to shut him out, but I couldn’t. I had to actually stop the damned meeting and tell the man that his deceased son was demanding an audience. Gonzo thought I’d lost my noodle.”

“Good Lord!” She covered her parted lips with her hand. “I’d say that was a heck of a coincidence, but . . .it seems to be so much more than that.”

“Yeah, right.” He sat back and drummed his fingers on the table for a few seconds. “Anyway, the kid – Clayton Nelson – was hitchhiking in New Orleans when a guy in a pickup stopped for him. He couldn’t see much of the man’s face because he wore a ball cap and sunglasses. He had a mustache that looked fake to me. He used the ploy of something being wrong with his truck to get the kid to look under the hood and then he knocked him out with a blow to the head. Clay came to in a basement, his wrists and ankles bound with plastic ties and chains.” He shuttered his gaze from her. “That’s where he was murdered.” A few seconds ticked by before his lashes lifted to reveal his dark blue eyes that never missed much. “You’ve been in contact with the murderer already, haven’t you?”

Her heart jolted. He was uncanny. “I was in contact with someone who’s warped. I don’t know if it was the salvage yard killer.”

“Was he murdering someone?”

“Something. A cat.”

Levi’s upper lip lifted in disgust. “Jesus.”

“Yeah. He was practicing, I think.” She shuddered and blocked out the memory.

“The kid in my head showed me a compass and pointed to the N on it.”

She gasped at the reference. “Your true north?”

“Bingo. His way of telling me that you were already part of this.”

She reached for her glass of juice. They must be destined to examine this case. How else could she explain what happened to Levi and what she’d already experienced?

Interview: Maggie Adams Reply

Maggie Adams

I am at the IRC (Indie Romance Convention) in Lebanon, TN. Sitting here with me is Author Maggie Adams.

Interview:
What genre do you write?
Romantic Suspense with an erotic edge

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and do you read the same genre as you write?
Hi! I’m Maggie Adams, although my fan club calls me Queen Minx because I do like a bit of naughtiness with my romance! I live near St. Louis, Missouri with my husband, aka, ATTRACTIVE OVER FORTY MAN. He’s also the head of my research and development (if you know what I mean *wink*) I love dancing, cooking, reading and writing romance, especially erotic romance. I make sure each of my books have a little something about me in them, so keep your eyes open, I’m in there somewhere!

What inspired you to write in this particular genre?
I love happy ever afters but I know its hard to find romance and keep it, in real life and in a book. A good book draws the reader into the story with parallels of a readers real life struggles, sorrows and joys. My characters are real folks who have good traits and not so good traits. I love writing them because I see this real life love in the people around me.

Where are you from?
I’m from a small town, just north of St. Louis, MO

Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
I love Dixie Harris, from Whistlin’ Dixie. She’s small but mighty, full of confidence and sass, fiercely loyal to her family and passionate in her love for one man.

Do you have a special formula for creating characters’ names?
Not really. I start to develop the characters with he or sh and the names just pop into my head and fit.

Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
Claudia from “Getting Lucky” and “Love, Marriage Mayhem”. Without giving away too much, it’s hard for me to write about betrayal and forgiveness.

What is your motto?
Keep the fights clean and the sex dirty is my motto.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Cheesecake and binge watching “Once Upon A Time”

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
Gene Kelly. I’d love to dance with Gene Kelly.

Tell us your latest news?
Lots of news! My son is getting married Nov. 5, 2016. The adventures of Attractive Over Forty Man is no going to be a feature in my newsletter! I’m editing my collection of erotic short stories right now. And Renee Kennedy and I have a surprise we are unveiling at Indie Romance Convention!

Interview: LK Shaw Reply

LK Shaw

I am at the IRC (Indie Romance Convention) in Lebanon, TN. Sitting here with me is Author LK Shaw.

Interview:
What genre do you write?
Contemporary BDSM/Romantic Suspense

Can you tell readers a little bit about yourself and do you read the same genre as you write?
My day job is as a physical therapy assistant. I work with the geriatric population in a skilled nursing facility. I have 1 spoiled, high-maintenance dog, Miss P. I enjoy traveling and meeting new people.

What inspired you to write in this particular genre?
I love a hot, sexy romance and BDSM has always intrigued me.

Where are you from?
South Carolina

Is there a character that you enjoyed writing more than any of the others?
I loved writing Bridget. She is sassy, a little bratty, but when she loves, she loves wholeheartedly.

Do you have a special formula for creating characters’ names?
Honestly, I don’t. I just pick random names.

Was one of your characters more challenging to write than another?
For sure! Connor Black was my most challenging character. He had been so hurt in the past that it was hard to break through his shell. He is also a sadist, which was extremely difficulty for me to identify with. I wanted to do his emotional needs justice

What is your motto?
I don’t know if I have a motto, per se. But, I do have a favorite Dr. Seuss quote that I try to live by. “Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.” ~ Dr. Seuss

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate

If you could meet anyone, dead or alive, who would it be and why?
That’s a tough question. There are so many people I would love to meet. I think Freddie Mercury would be close to the top. He was a lyrical genius and his music is absolutely timeless. He was such a talented musician.

Tell us your latest news?
I am currently workin on three projects. Book 3 in the Secrets series. Secrets of Redemption is due out in Spring, 2017. Protecting Katie, apart of a romantic suspense collection called The Smex Files will be coming Summer/Fall of 2017. and a secret project anthology will be coming out Summer 2017.

Thank you LK Shaw for taking the time to answers these questions.

About the Author:
LK Shaw is a physical therapist assistant by day and writer/social media addict by night. She resides in South Carolina with her high maintenance beagle mix dog, Miss P, who should probably just have her own Instagram account. An avid reader since childhood, she became hooked on historical romance novels in high school. It wasn’t until within the last seven or eight years she tried her hand at contemporary romances. Some of her favorite historical romance authors include Christi Caldwell, Courtney Milan, Mary Balogh, and Tessa Dare. Some of her favorite contemporary romance authors include Julia Sykes, Ella Dominguez, Skye Callahan, and Meghan March.
She initially began writing in November 2015 as part of National Novel Writing Month, when, suddenly, the story became something more than just writing on a whim. The vision for the story snowballed and, before she knew it, she began taking steps toward publishing. Each book in her first series feature Romantic Suspense and BDSM combined.

Review:

This is the first book by Rhea Rhodan that I have read so I had no idea what type of writer she was. I am glad that I read this book. I enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I found this book to be fast paced and not once did I put it down while reading. I am adding Ms Rhodan to the list of authors that I was to read again and have added her other books to my TBR list. I recommend this book.

Description:

When fantasy and reality collide, only love can be believed.

Shattered by a brutal attack and forced to flee, painfully withdrawn Dr. Prudence Marsh buries her emotions under numbing logic. For years, her escapes to a fantasy world created to survive her hellish past have been nothing more than a guilty pleasure. But when the host of the safe house turns out to be a dead ringer for her dream warrior, she fears she’s lost her precious mind along with everything else.

Ex-SEAL Max Delaney has been known to dabble in a hot, delicious mess—or two, or three. He has no idea how to handle a cold, sour one. Blackmailed into babysitting Dr. Marsh in his hidden bunker while she finishes a top-secret project sucks. Until he falls for her. Then it blows. Every clue Max unravels buys him more questions. Every step forward lands him two steps back, flat on his ass.

Demons past, present, and future haunt Max and Prudence as they stumble along the twisting path to love. Merciless enemies and shifting alliances drive both to desperate measures, tumbling them over the border between shadow and substance—where each must choose what, and whom, to believe.

Excerpt:

He whispered praise in her ear, “That’s it. Now don’t you feel better?”

She shivered in response, though her hands at his back had warmed. He smiled into the fresh scent of her hair and wrapped her more tightly in his arms. She was his now; even if she didn’t know it yet.

With firm, subtle pressure, he brought her head to rest on his shoulder. Her hands tightened around him, then, finally, her body relaxed fully into his.

Her sigh was what did him in, what scrambled his brain and sent the jolt to his heart, then racing lower, hotter. He swallowed hard. Patience was suddenly a whole lot scarcer than it had been a minute ago.

The Balconies. Any one of the half dozen private patios facing the ocean would do. Each of the double doors was chaperoned by a broad back discreetly turned from the couples enjoying the seclusion they offered. It was one of the unique and best features of the club.

With experienced ease, he guided his plunder across the dance floor to the nearest unoccupied one. “You’re a bit flushed. Would you like some ocean air? The view is great.”

She blushed and murmured something indistinct he chose to take as assent. Another covert tip and nod to the bouncer—the same one who’d been at the VIP gate, still wearing the frown—and their path was clear.

The moon cast a diamond-strewn path across the water and glimmered in her depths of her eyes. He wanted to climb into that fire and stay there until Judgment Day.

After a few gulps of the salty night air, she said, “Thank you, Mr. Delane. I’m afraid the effects of the alcohol may have—”

“It’s Delaney.” He squeezed her hand. “Calling me Max would solve the problem, you know.”

“I’m still not certain I’m comfortable—”

“We can’t have that. I want you very comfortable.” He kept his voice low and soothing, ran his hands up her tantalizingly bare arms to cup her face. She gasped at his touch, her eyes widened and her lips parted.

He’d meant the kiss to be subdued, a simple brushing of mouths, and that’s how it started. But he couldn’t stop what followed. Couldn’t keep his hand from gripping the back of her head; holding it at the best angle for his access; from tracing her lips with his tongue and gently opening her mouth to accept it; prevent his other hand from roaming between the cool satin of her hair and the warm silk of her dress to the swell of her sweet, tight ass; squeezing it, and pulling her close. Close enough for her to feel the rock hard extent of his hunger. Close enough for him to feel the moist heat of hers—God help him with what control he had left.

Her arms circled his waist, her delicate, surprisingly strong hands pressed into his back, stroked, pulled at him in helpless, inexperienced little tugs that made him want to push up her dress and set her on the railing, wrap those long legs around his waist, and—

“Please, Delane.” The desperate ache in her plea squeezed him like a fist and echoed all the way to his toes. He shook with the effort to clamp down on his lust.

“‘Max.’ Say it, Prue. Say it and I’ll take you to paradise, sweetheart. C’mon,” he whispered it into her ear, then nipped it tenderly. Understanding why he needed that particular surrender wasn’t important, winning it was.

He slipped the hand on her ass under her dress, ran his finger under the lace of her panties, reached to stroke the hot velvet, teasing her, driving himself to the knife edge of desire.

“Oh…ah…M-M-Ma—”

A warning rush of overused air boxed his ears a few seconds before a shrill voice pierced them. “There you are, Max, darling! I thought this was our balcony. Remember? A couple of weeks ago we…”

Bam. Just like that, Prue froze in his arms. He opened his eyes and saw the shutters slam over hers, dousing the lighthouse, leaving him at sea in empty darkness.
